Brainware, Inc., the leading provider of intelligent data capture and enterprise search solutions, announced today that a Midwest-based healthcare system has chosen Brainware Distiller™ for the automation of hundreds of thousands of invoices annually in a McKesson ERP environment. This client will be automating a completely manual A/P environment and joins the growing number of healthcare providers, payers, researchers and suppliers who have selected intelligent data capture technology to drive efficiency in their accounts payable process. This contract includes Brainware's Visibility™ module for real-time financial metrics and analytics.
The automation of back end processes dovetails with the federal government's efforts to introduce paperless processing throughout the healthcare space. According to a recent White House memorandum, "the Recovery Act (a.k.a. 'the stimulus bill') is investing approximately $20 billion in health information technology to boost significantly advancements in electronic health records, e-prescribing, e-care, and community health initiatives." By leveraging Brainware Distiller to automate A/P, healthcare providers are taking a further step to modernize costly, outdated processes for the benefit of more purpose-driven functions. One of this client's key objectives is the reassignment of data entry personnel to other units within the organization, a key value driver in an environment where revenues are better spent on patient care and clinical research.
"Some of the most advanced medical institutions in the world continue to operate with labor-intensive data entry," said Carl Mergele, Chief Executive Officer at Brainware. "Our technology drives substantial return on investment within the ERP and document management systems that are common within the healthcare industry, allowing more providers to cut the cost of processing invoices and devote more funds to saving lives and developing treatments."
Reflecting the company's continued commitment to the healthcare industry, Brainware will be participating in the Healthcare Payments Automation Summit, September 21-23 at the Sheraton Boston Hotel. In addition to demonstrating Distiller's applications for esteemed members of the healthcare community, Brainware's Vice President of Marketing, Charles Kaplan, will be participating in a panel discussion about the benefits of A/P automation within a healthcare-oriented operation.
