Special ISCD-IOF conference to include scientific presentations, open discussion and debate
The WHO Fracture Risk Assessment Tool (FRAX-) is being used increasingly by physicians to help evaluate fracture risk and identify those people who are most in need of osteoporosis treatment. To date, FRAX- models are available for 26 countries, with more currently in planning.
The ISCD-IOF FRAX Initiative will bring together leading experts to provide timely answers to the many FRAX-related questions being raised by clinicians around the world. The ultimate goal of the conference is to develop a comprehensive educational document that will assist healthcare providers in integrating FRAX- in their daily practice.
Led by panels of international experts, the conference will allow for two days of stimulating discussion and debate, in the form of a modified ISCD Position Development Conference. At the forefront of the Initiative, three task forces (FRAX- Clinical, FRAX- BMD and FRAX- International) were formed to address specific questions regarding FRAX-; to conduct appropriate literature reviews; and to develop preliminary statements. Delegates are invited to participate as these findings and preliminary statements are debated at the conference in front of the expert panel. Informative lunch and dinner symposia, sponsored by industry, will also be held.
We encourage all those with an interest in FRAX- and its development to join us at the ISCD-IOF FRAX Initiative. In order to encourage open discussion, the conference is limited to 300 participants so early registration is recommended!
