BK Medical launches Flex Focus 700 mobile ultrasound system

Analogic Corporation (Nasdaq:ALOG), a leading provider of medical imaging and aviation security technology, announced today that its specialized ultrasound business, BK Medical, has introduced the Flex Focus 700™, a mobile ultrasound system designed primarily for ultrasound guided surgical procedures in the operating room.

The Flex Focus 700 is an ultrasound system tailored to the specific needs of the surgical suite. Its size, mobility, power, and usability are all designed for the operating room, based on direct input from surgeons. The customizable system can be controlled using the large touch screen or the simple touch pad on the control panel. The system's
19-inch screen displays sharp laparoscopic, intraoperative, and percutaneous images, with detail that is visible from virtually any angle. The Flex Focus 700 is small, lightweight, and supports a wide range of sterilizable transducers.

Jim Green, Analogic's president and CEO, said, "The release of the Flex Focus 700 is an important step in strengthening our position as a market leader in specialized ultrasound. Our 25+ years of experience creating solutions that help drive the development of medical ultrasound applications, with a focus on the distinct challenges of surgery, makes us uniquely qualified to provide a mobile ultrasound system ideally suited to the operating room."

"The superb functionality and groundbreaking technology of the Flex Focus 700 help surgeons perform the most intricate procedures," said Michael Brock, president of BK Medical, a wholly owned subsidiary of Analogic. "Our system is expertly designed to move easily around the operating room, with a large screen and ultra-sharp images that can be seen from anywhere in the room. Powerful, flexible, and innovative, the Flex Focus 700 is tomorrow's ultrasound system today."

The Flex Focus 700 will be showcased at the European Society of Regional Anesthesia Annual Congress, September 8-11, 2010, in Porto, Portugal, and in the United States at the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Clinical Congress, October 3-7, 2010, in Washington, DC. The system is the latest in the Focus-family series of innovative ultrasound scanners that includes the Flex Focus 200, the award winning Flex Focus 400, and the newly released Flex Focus 400 Anesthesia. Flex Focus systems feature BK Medical's proprietary IQPAC™ technology for enhanced image quality.
