AdvaMed 2010: The MedTech Conference opens on Monday, October 18 with a series of free educational Executive Workshops focused on bringing products to the US markets, a 1/2 day entrepreneur bootcamp, and minimizing risk and global harmonization. The workshops take place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and begin at 2:00 pm. and include speakers from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the investment community, Japan's Ministry of Health Labor and Welfare, the legal community and local and international CEO's. Sessions are designed for CEOs and General Managers of Pre-Revenue Start-Up Companies, emerging growth companies and established companies looking to bring products to the US markets.
The full AdvaMed 2010 Conference kicks off the morning of October 19 and continues through October 20 with an evening reception on Capitol Hill. It features more than 30 educational panels, more than sixty company presentations from U.S. and global innovators, and highlights the latest medical technologies in a vibrant exhibit hall featuring an "Innovation Alley" and a "CEO's Unplugged" spotlight stage.
Keynote speakers include:
- Connecticut-raised, Dr. Donald Berwick the newly appointed Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and former President and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement;
- Arlington, Virginia-raised Katie Couric, the first female solo anchor and managing editor of the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric and former NBC Today Show co-host;
- Dr. Margaret Hamburg, the 21st Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and former New York City Commissioner of Health;
- and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke, and former Governor of Washington State.
