National Journal: House GOP Leaders Postpone Health Care Repeal Vote
House Republicans have called off [this] week's legislative action, including a planned Wednesday vote on a GOP bill to repeal President Obama's health care law, because of today's shooting attack on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., and others in Tucson. Giffords supported the law (Davis and House, 1/8).
Politico: Health Debate Delayed, Toned Down
Lawmakers on Sunday said they still expect to have a spirited but delayed and toned-down debate to repeal the health care reform law after Saturday's shooting in Arizona. ... Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), Republican conference chairman, said on CNN's "State of the Union" that the rhetoric needs to be turned down (Haberkorn, 1/9).

Repeal of the law is a priority of Republicans who won control of the House in November elections, and it is expected to pass the House easily when the vote takes place. The effort is not expected to advance in the Democratic-controlled Senate, however (Sullivan, 1/9).
