Cutera launches Excel V laser system for Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons

Cutera, Inc., a leading worldwide provider of laser and other energy-based aesthetic systems for practitioners worldwide, today announced the launch of its Excel V laser system ─ a unique vascular work station designed specifically for the core-market of Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons.

Kevin Connors, President and CEO of Cutera, said, "The Excel V is the first in a series of high performance, stand-alone, laser based products that we expect to introduce to the market. It combines a new high power green laser with Cutera's award winning Nd:YAG technology, to provide a single, compact and efficient system that treats the entire range of cosmetic vascular conditions, without the need for costly consumables."

The world premier of the Excel V will take place at the 69th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology, on February 4-8, 2011, at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

Vascular treatments are the foundation of a laser dermatologist's practice. Multiple systems are often required to cover the entire range of vascular conditions seen on a daily basis. "What excites me most about the Cutera Excel V is that it comprises a single, reliable, consumable-free laser platform which effectively treats practically all vascular lesions and superficial pigment disorders," said Whitney D. Tope, MPhil, MD, Academic Dermatology, Minneapolis, MN.

The Excel V features an innovative delivery system that allows the physician to tailor the treatment to the patient. The advanced handpiece delivery system provides the most treatment spot sizes available on any system on the market with enhanced visibility for the physician. The system also incorporates many modern features that enhance its use in the clinic. It has been enthusiastically received by many leading laser dermatologists.

"With the Excel V laser, Cutera has developed the vascular laser we've requested for years – featuring bigger spots and faster delivery in a quieter, cooler and smaller package," said E. Victor Ross, MD, Director of the Laser and Cosmetic Dermatology Laser Center at Scripps Clinic, San Diego, CA.
