BioSan announces precautionary voluntary recall over undeclared soy in Essentials, RightFoods products

BioSan Laboratories announced today a recall of products in its Essentials™ and RightFoods™ lines because they may contain undeclared soy. BioSan Laboratories has not received any reports of adverse or allergic reactions to these products.  Although the levels of soy are low, people with soy allergies risk an allergic reaction if they consume these products.

In swift and highly precautionary voluntary response, the company is recalling every product that may contain undeclared soy amino acid chelates. Soy allergies are most common in infants and children but can occur in adults. The only way to prevent a reaction is to avoid consuming soy, according to medical professionals.

The company also is recalling Cardio Strength® and Cardio Response®, which are sold under the Therapeutix™ and Innate brands. All other MegaFood and Innate products are correctly labeled and not included in this voluntary recall as they do not contain amino acid chelates in any form.  A detailed list of all items being recalled can be found on the company's website at www.biosanlaboratories.com

These products are sold through natural food stores, on the Internet and through healthcare practitioners.

"That this could have happened is unacceptable and we are making every effort to make certain it never happens again," said Carl Jackson, President of BioSan Laboratories. "We are taking immediate and voluntary action because the health and safety of those who use our products is always our highest priority. This recall only affects a small number of our products, those that do not list amino acid chelates from soy on the label. We are not certain that they all contain soy, since amino acid chelates can also be made with rice. However, we are removing everything that contains amino acid chelates to be absolutely sure there are no mislabeled products on the shelves. I am proud of the level of testing we perform and our prompt and thorough response to this recall."

Jackson said the company is in the process of notifying all customers to remove the products from shelves and take them out of distribution immediately. Consumers who have already purchased the products can return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
