dbMotion announces contract awards with numerous healthcare organizations

dbMotion, an innovative provider of connected healthcare solutions, announced contract awards with numerous healthcare organizations including Orlando Health; University Hospitals of Cleveland, Ohio; Sharp Healthcare and Huntington Memorial Hospital in 2010, underscoring the company's accelerated growth among providers seeking to achieve genuinely connected healthcare. dbMotion's partnership with Allscripts provides connectivity in the community with third party systems.

With these new contracts, dbMotion now delivers interoperability solutions to more than 100 hospitals and 2,000 ambulatory clinics globally - ranging from community hospitals to major integrated delivery networks (IDN) to academic medical centers - and spanning inpatient, outpatient and homecare electronic health record (EHR) solutions.

"We are gratified by the confidence these new clients have shown in the dbMotion™ Solution," says Peter McClennen, President of dbMotion North America. "Like so many other healthcare organizations, they are seeking technologies that will accelerate their progress towards effective enterprise health information exchange (HIE). We believe our focus on point-of-care workflows and data semantics will empower physicians and help them deliver superior care along the entire continuum."

The partnership with Allscripts was expanded in 2010 to increase joint development activities comprising the entire portfolio of Allscripts products. The Allscripts Community Record, powered by dbMotion, is now preconfigured for all Allscripts ambulatory, acute and home health EHR solutions. This enables providers throughout client health systems to access HIE technology that facilitates coordinated, connected care.

"Interoperability is essential to the delivery of high quality, cost-effective care" said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. "Our partnership with dbMotion enables Allscripts to uniquely offer health organizations the ability to integrate information from disparate systems in a meaningful way."

Notable clients adopting the dbMotion solution include:

  • Sharp Healthcare (San Diego, Ca.). With more than 14,000 employees and 2,600 affiliated physicians, Sharp Healthcare was the recipient of the 2007 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation's highest Presidential honor for quality and organizational performance excellence. A user of multiple Allscripts solutions including the Enterprise Electronic Health Record for its 400 employed physicians, Sharp will implement the Allscripts Community Record powered by dbMotion to connect its EHR with its Cerner Millennium system. A not-for-profit, integrated regional health care delivery system with more than 14,000 employees and 2,600 affiliated physicians, Sharp Healthcare includes four acute-care hospitals, three specialty hospitals, two affiliated medical groups and a health plan.
  • Huntington Memorial Hospital (Pasadena, Ca.). Huntington Hospital, a 635-bed, not-for-profit hospital, among the most prominent community based hospitals in the nation, is implementing the Allscripts Community Solution powered by dbMotion. Adding to the safe, high quality health delivery provided for more than 117 years, Huntington Health eConnect will connect and enable care collaboration between healthcare providers and across multiple EHRs adopted by the more than 3,000 physicians serving 1.3 million residents across the San Gabriel Valley.
  • Orlando Health (Orlando, Fla.). dbMotion will support the development of a continuum-wide health record throughout Orlando Health in Central Florida, which serves nearly two million Central Florida residents and 3,500 international visitors each year. Orlando Health has a long track record of innovation with the Allscripts Sunrise solution and will now connect its enterprise through the dbMotion platform.
  • University Hospitals (Cleveland, Oh.). Affiliated with the Case Western Reserve University, University Hospitals supports one of the region's largest networks of primary care physicians, outpatient centers and hospitals. The dbMotion Solution will be deployed in concert with the Allscripts Electronic Health Record to support UHHS's 1,400 employed physicians and independent physicians, connecting providers throughout the enterprise regardless of which EHR they use.

"The dbMotion Solution is an integral and strategic component in our effort to connect our healthcare continuum in a meaningful way," says Rick Schooler, CIO of Orlando Health. "The dbMotion interoperability platform places vital and relevant data in the hands of providers when and where they need it."
