EIF's NCCRA, SU2C to encourage people get screened for colorectal cancer

Golden Globe® and Academy Award®-nominated actor and musician Terrence Howard appears in a moving window display at Rockefeller Plaza this month, encouraging viewers to get screened for colorectal cancer as an ambassador for the Entertainment Industry Foundation's National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance (EIF's NCCRA) and Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C). Donated by EHE International, the window at 10 Rockefeller Plaza will house the display until the end of March, which is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.

Colorectal cancer is the second-leading cancer killer among men and women combined in this country, yet is highly curable when caught early and often entirely preventable with appropriate screening. EIF's NCCRA, co-founded by Katie Couric, works to raise awareness about the importance of getting screened and supports groundbreaking research to improve the way colon cancer is prevented, detected and treated.

"EHE International is pleased to contribute to Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month by donating this window to EIF's NCCRA," said Deborah McKeever, EHE International President.

"We've seen an encouraging decline in the colorectal cancer death rate over the past few years, but there's still so much to be done," said Lisa Paulsen, Entertainment Industry Foundation President and CEO. "Only 66% of adults who should be screened for colon cancer have been, so we're always grateful for opportunities like this to spread the message that screening saves lives."

The still image in the display, as well as a video featuring Terrence alongside images of his mother, who he lost to the disease when she was just 56, were adapted from a Public Service Announcement campaign conducted jointly by EIF's NCCRA and the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
