With 75 million baby boomers edging into their years of greatest health care usage - and with the number of geriatrics physicians steadily on the decline - registered nurses are stepping up to fill the need. Doing so requires not only a significant statistical shift in the nursing work force but also a cultural shift in the way patients and medical staff view the delivery of health care (Creamer, 3/15).
