Esaote acquires 3mensio

Esaote International NV and 3mensio Medical Imaging BV (3mensio) have entered into an agreement pursuant to which Esaote acquires 3mensio in order to expand its leading role in healthcare information technology. Following this acquisition, today Pie Medical Imaging BV (PMI), a group company of the Esaote group, and 3mensio have announced that they have joined their business activities.

"PMI and 3mensio have a shared vision on how to develop highly innovative technological software solutions to support health care providers. With 3mensio and its 3D/4D visualization technology we will be able to accelerate the realization of the tools that our customers need for optimal treatment of their patients," said Boudewijn Verstraelen, CEO of PMI.

"We believe that our opportunities for continued growth and expansion will be best realized through the additional scale and resources that Pie Medical Imaging and the Esaote group can provide," said Frank Wessels, 3mensio's founder and CTO, who will continue to lead the technical team.

Paul Sysmans, who will remain involved as consultant to the management following the acquisition, states "the combined expertise of the companies in CT, MRI, US and X-Ray will lead to new business in the interventional workflow from pre-op planning, assistance during the intervention, to post-op analysis."

According to Rene Guillaume, Director Sales and Marketing of PMI, "3mensio's products and expertise in advanced visualization and procedure planning tools will complement PMIs' portfolio of renowned software products. Together, we will be able to offer a comprehensive set of cardiovascular solutions meeting the needs of physicians, allowing them to deliver the best quality of healthcare possible to their patients."
