Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) has announced new, enhanced features that expand the mobile experience through Blue Access Mobile. Members can now sign up for text messaging services to receive health and wellness alerts, claims payment alerts, weekly diet tips, and reminders to take medication.
The new Blue Access Mobile offerings are free, simple, secure and convenient. These mobile offerings are accessible 24/7 and empower members to conveniently take a more active role in their care even when on the go.
Since the introduction of the mobile offerings, members have been logging in at increasing rates to find a doctor, locate a hospital or urgent care facility, and view ID cards, claims and benefit coverage information such as deductibles, co-insurance and out-of-pocket maximums. Non-members can shop for insurance, get a preliminary quote and use provider and hospital search functions.
"We are committed to providing ongoing innovations to mobilize vital information and services, responding more efficiently and effectively to the needs of our customers and business partners," said Darren Rodgers, president of BCBSTX. "Mobile devices allow our members to get important information in a convenient and accessible way. We believe more information and a proactive approach to engaging members in personal health care awareness are critical components in controlling costs and helping members enhance their health care management."
"We are providing support to bring about seamless and personal interaction with our members, putting important health care information in the palm of their hands to provide access when they are on the go," said Eduardo Sanchez, vice president and chief medical officer, BCBSTX. "Blue Access Mobile is a fast, simple, secure suite of applications developed to empower members with important information."
Blue Access Mobile empowers members to take a more active role in their own care, providing actionable and personalized health information. It represents the beginning of the next generation of creating better connections with members to the health care system by getting the right data to the right people at the right time.
