StreamVenue Healthcare has partnered its "plug and play" products and services with Texas Health Ben Hogan Sports Medicine to teach, and to better manage post-surgical patient recovery.
StreamVenue's system, StreamingOR, allows athletic trainers, surgeons and physical therapists to view cases and discuss how best to manage post-operative recovery. The system fosters cohesive communication and creates a live classroom for teaching as well.
Orthopedic surgeon Robert Scheinberg, M.D., says capturing live video of his cases using StreamingOR is "an invaluable tool" for teaching athletic trainers, among others. "You can visualize what I am doing both inside with arthroscopic pictures, and outside with an external camera, on the same live feed, along with live voice interaction."
StreamVenue Healthcare rolled out its Solution Package offering as an innovative step in endoscopy technology. The package includes the EndoCom hardware; StreamingOR, live streaming of minimally invasive surgical cases; and Endo-Cloud, an archiving system which can ultimately attach surgical case videos to Electronic Medical Records. The privately-held company was founded in 2009 and is based in the Dallas-Fort Worth Silicon Prairie.
StreamVenue solutions are integrated into existing endoscopy suites, explains Clayton Redmon, co-founder and CEO of StreamVenue Healthcare. The innovative technology impacts multiple roles. "Our endoscopy system adds value to the patient experience and to the physician experience with continuing medical education, peer review, real time collobaration, even training and product development for medical device companies."
This month, Ben Hogan Sports Medicine launches a Lecture Series for athletic trainers with participants viewing from at least three different locations. Question and answer sessions will be in real time, according to athletic trainer Jonathan Hancock, ATC, LAT, CSCS.
"I can be working in Pittsburgh, PA and not only view a surgical procedure in Dallas, TX but also interact with a world-renowned surgeon in real-time to improve my knowledge base," Hancock says. Watch this video for more about the benefits to athletic trainers.
StreamVenue Healthcare endoscopy technology benefits clinicians with comprehensive information about patients, Dr. Scheinberg says. For example, athletic trainers can watch the surgeon perform a Lachman's test, which is used to determine ACL damage. "We [orthopedic surgeons] can perform a surgery and explain in detail what athletic trainers need to watch for during the rehabilitation process."
