Anesthesia & Analgesia introduces new electronic edition

The editors of Anesthesia & Analgesia, official journal of the International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS), are pleased to announce the launch of their new Anesthesia & Analgesia for the iPad® app. The new electronic edition brings the entire contents of each issue to the iPad®, with the addition of unique new enhancements and interactive features.

Anesthesia & Analgesia for the iPad is available free of charge for a limited time—including free access to full-text articles—at the iTunes App Store. "The digital version of Anesthesia & Analgesia retains the familiar format of the print journal, while offering the advantages of digital content" comments Dr. Steven L. Shafer of Columbia University, Editor-in-Chief of Anesthesia & Analgesia. "For example, video is directly integrated into the digital version, opening new venues for authors to communicate scientific discoveries and clinical insight. One iPad can replace shelves of printed journals."

Anesthesia & Analgesia Now Available on the iPad
Anesthesia & Analgesia for the iPad uses optimized digital technology to provide a print-like reading experience. Navigation is fast and intuitive, allowing readers to easily switch between scanning rapidly and reading in depth. Along with full-text downloads of each weekly issue, the new app offers special enhanced features, including:
•Easy-to-read full-text articles that you can share via email or social media
•Adjustable text sizing with "pinch and zoom"
•Engaging multimedia videos and images
•Ability to store or delete downloaded issues
•Speedy issue-browsing capability via Quick View
•Quick scrolling through abstract summaries
•Convenient notification when a new issue is available
•Link to Anesthesia & Analgesia online to view supplemental material, including Featured Articles, Published ahead-of-print, and archived issues

A unique feature is videos embedded directly within the text, providing easy access to dynamic content without leaving the article you're reading. The app was developed by and is being distributed by the IARS's publishing partner, Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, a part of Wolters Kluwer Health.

"We're delighted to partner with International Anesthesia Research Society to bring the journal app for the iPad to members offering a dynamic, integrated experience with the content," added Karen Abramson, President and CEO of Wolters Kluwer Health Medical Research. "Staying current today means accessing information anytime, anywhere through digital solutions, and for practitioners, the journal iPad app offers tremendous, convenient accessibility to important content."

Anesthesia & Analgesia for the iPad is available now, offering free full content to all readers for a limited time. After this introductory period, the App will be available exclusively to IARS members and they will continue to have full access via a simple login process. Each monthly issue will be posted on the same schedule as the current online and print editions.

"Next year will be the 90th Anniversary of Anesthesia & Analgesia," adds. Dr. Shafer. "We have dubbed this our Silicon Jubilee, reflecting the rapid evolution of Anesthesia & Analgesia from a traditional printed journal to a digital journal with the unlimited potential of digital media."
