Ocean Nutrition Canada (ONC) the world's largest Omega-3 ingredient supplier, today announced its acquisition of a fish oil refining plant in Piura, Peru. With the purchase of the plant, ONC will now offer its customers a completely integrated supply chain, from primary processing through to finished ingredient.

ONC's brand of MEG-3® fish oil ingredients sources the majority of its raw materials from the coastal upwelling region off Peru. The Piura facility has been the primary refining facility for the organization for more than 4 years, through an exclusive partnership with Peruvian food company Alicorp S.A. ONC's other facilities include corporate headquarters and a microencapsulation plant in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, an oil refining plant in Mulgrave, Nova Scotia and a microencapsulation plant in Arcadia, Wisconsin. The 108 employees at the Piura facility have joined the ONC team, bringing the company's total employees to more than 400.
"We're thrilled to welcome the Piura employees into the Ocean Nutrition family," says Jamieson. "Together, we're strengthening our global leadership position as we continue to evolve and grow our company."
