European Urology to launch two new Resource Centres

European Urology, the official peer-reviewed journal of the EAU, is to launch two new Resource Centres that can be accessed from www.europeanurology.com. Both resource centres aim to provide information around a specific topic in urology.

Nocturia Resource Centre Nocturia, waking up at night to void, is becoming increasingly recognized as a public health concern. Nocturia should be seen as an independent entity and not just as part of the overactive bladder syndrome (OAB) or a consequence of benign prostatic obstruction (BPO) especially since, nocturnal polyuria (the production of an abnormally large volume of urine at night), is present in 60-80% of patients with nocturia, even when they suffer from the daytime symptoms of OAB and lower urinary tract symptoms/BPO.

Nocturia is not only common but also has a strong impact on sleep, which can lead to serious consequences including reduced quality of life, productivity and overall health. New data reveal increased morbidity and mortality in patients suffering from nocturia. Advanced Prostate Cancer Resource Centre Diagnosis and treatment of metastatic and castration resistant prostate cancer is becoming more and more complex due to the increasing knowledge and understanding of the underlying molecular events, and the subsequently deducted innovative medical treatment approaches.

The Advanced Prostate Cancer Resource Centre is being launched to offer an informative platform to the interested uro-oncologist with regard to the latest developments in the management of castration resistant prostate cancer. The goal is to inform the community about the most recent publications and clinical trials, and to have international specialists appraise and share experiences.
