More than 250 Montefiore physicians named Top Doctors by Castle Connolly

More than 250 doctors from Montefiore Medical Center have been named in the Top Doctors: New York Metro Area 2012 guide, by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. The doctors selected were among thousands who had been nominated by their peers and judged on various criteria including medical education, training, hospital appointments and disciplinary histories. Approximately 10% of Montefiore's physicians were recognized, across various specialties including Oncology, Cardiology and Pediatrics, as leading doctors in the region.

"As a nationally-renowned, premier academic medical center, we are committed to providing the highest standards of excellence," said Steven M. Safyer, MD, President & CEO of Montefiore Medical Center, the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine. "We are pleased that so many of our physicians who are the leading clinicians and scientists in their fields have been selected as Top Doctors by Castle Connolly. They have truly achieved medical breakthroughs and will continue to provide innovative, high quality care to the patients we serve."

Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., publishes a number of guides each year identifying outstanding physicians around the country. These guides are used as a resource by patients looking for top primary care and specialty physicians in their area. The Top Doctors list is also featured on the U.S. News and World Report website in a searchable directory, freely available to the general public. For many years, Castle Connolly has been providing New York Magazine with a shorter version of this list for the magazine's "Best Doctors" issue.
