Baptist Health South Florida announced today that Ethisphere Institute has named it as one of the 2012 World's Most Ethical Companies - marking the second straight such honor for Baptist Health.
“We are extremely proud to again receive this award because it signifies we are recognized for adhering to the core values of honesty, integrity and transparency in the way we operate”
"We are extremely proud to again receive this award because it signifies we are recognized for adhering to the core values of honesty, integrity and transparency in the way we operate," said Brian E. Keeley, president and chief executive officer of Baptist Health.
"Our focus on ethical behavior starts with our faith-based mission statement and carries through our entire organization. For more than half a century, our governing boards have never deviated from the highest ethical standards in the way we operate. We have developed and nurtured a corporate culture of integrity, incorporating our commitment to the highest ethical and legal standards."
Baptist Health is the only Florida-based company and one of only two not-for-profit healthcare organizations in the United States to receive the award.
Baptist Health's focus on ethical behavior includes a detailed code of ethics covering standards and values and outlining specific regulations and procedures, a strict conflict of interest policy and a vendor relations policy. It has a Corporate Compliance Program, in place for more than 15 years, with a chief compliance officer who reports directly to the board of directors.
This is the sixth year Ethisphere has published the list of the World's Most Ethical companies. Ethisphere reviewed thousands of companies from around the world and chose 145 honorees based on their code of ethics, litigation and regulatory infraction history, investment in innovation and sustainable business practices and activities designed to improve corporate citizenship.
