Apothecary, Verde introduce Medsaway medication disposal system

Apothecary Products, Inc., in conjunction with Verde Environmental Technologies, introduces Medsaway® medication disposal system. This unique item allows you to get rid of old and unwanted drugs including narcotics, liquid medication, transdermal patches and controlled substances.

“Apothecary Products Inc. is very pleased to have made an agreement with Verde Environmental Technologies to bring this important advancement to consumers. We view Medsaway as a game changing product that truly is the right way to dispose of unwanted medication”

Medsaway was created to help the consumer get rid of any old and unwanted medication they have around their house. Medsaway consists of a patented Medsorb™ carbon inner pouch, contained in a liquid-tight outer pouch packaged in a folding carton. Each single-use disposable Medsaway unit will have the capacity to neutralize about 45 pills or capsules. The inactivation process begins rapidly with the addition of a small quantity of water, and this provides a rapid degradation of drugs such as pain killers, and other unwanted potentially dangerous products, so they can be safely disposed. In as a little as 48 hours, harmful medications are rendered inactive and harmless to users and the environment.

"For the first time, households will be able to use Medsaway to rapidly inactivate and conveniently remove unwanted and dangerous medications from the home medicine cabinet. By inactivating and destroying unwanted pharmaceuticals prior to disposal, Medsaway reduces the potential for abuse or misuse of drugs left in the home, and reduces the amount of active pharmaceutical compounds that contaminate the aquatic environment," stated Dr. Andrew Korey, Chief Executive Officer of Verde Environmental Technologies.

Medsaway comes as a vast improvement over traditional and common methods of disposing of old medication. Traditionally, old and unused household medications are flushed down the toilet or thrown into the trash. The environmental impact from these forms of disposal has become more and more evident. MedsAway helps to combat this problem as it deactivates active and inactive ingredients contained within the medication.

"Apothecary Products Inc. is very pleased to have made an agreement with Verde Environmental Technologies to bring this important advancement to consumers. We view Medsaway as a game changing product that truly is the right way to dispose of unwanted medication," says Marketing VP Chris Gowin of Apothecary Products Incorporated.
