The International Osteoporosis Foundation will hold its 3rd IOF Regionals - Asia-Pacific Osteoporosis Meeting from December 13 to 16, 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. IOF looks forward to the participation of more than 1000 health professionals from varied fields including orthopaedics, endocrinology, rheumatology, gynaecology, radiology, rehabilitation and general practice.
In addition to the latest clinical and epidemiological research in the field, the meeting will offer a comprehensive educational programme that outlines the latest clinical advances of use to everyday practice.
Investigators and clinicians who wish to showcase their research findings at this prestigious event are invited to submit their abstracts by the August 10 deadline. Abstracts will be published in a supplement issue of 'Osteoporosis International', the leading clinical journal in the field. IOF Young Investigator Awards will be awarded to the 5 top-ranked abstracts by presenting authors 40 years of age or younger. Winners will be invited to present their work during a plenary session and receive a 1000 USD travel grant and certificate.
In addition, authors of top-ranking abstracts by young scientists will be invited to attend an exclusive hands-on full-day course. The Young Scientist Mentoring Programme, to be held on December 13, 2012, will focus on research, writing publications and delivering presentations. It will be chaired by Professor Ego Seeman (Australia) and Dr. Ambrish Mithal (India). Faculty includes Professors John Kanis, Cyrus Cooper, Sarath Lekamwasam, Serge Ferrari and Peter Ebeling. A small travel grant and accommodation will be provided for winners living outside of Malaysia to help defray the cost of attendance.
