On Sept. 12, Harris Health System celebrated the completion of Smith Clinic, the system's first outpatient specialty facility. The new facility enhances and expands specialty care for patients formerly seen at hospital-based clinics located at Ben Taub Hospital.
After almost two years of construction, the five-story, nearly 168,000-square-foot facility was completed two months ahead of schedule. Partial services for patients began Sept. 4, with a full complement of services scheduled for Oct. 1.

Smith Clinic has more than 100 exam rooms and is expected to provide care for more than 73,500 annual patient visits. The facility is staffed by faculty physicians and residents from Baylor College of Medicine.
