Catamaran achieves five-star medication safety ratings

Catamaran Corp. (NASDAQ: CTRX, TSX: CCT), a leading provider of pharmacy benefit management (PBM) services and technology, today announced it has received a 2013 PQA Quality Award recognizing its five-star rating on all PQA measures in the Part D Star Ratings program.

The award is administered by Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA), an organization dedicated to improving patient health by championing clear performance measures for medication management, and recognizes those organizations that foster exceptional pharmacy quality.

PQA's recognition program for prescription drug plans recognizes Medicare prescription drug plans (both MA-PD and PDP) that have demonstrated outstanding performance in medication-related quality as determined through the use of publicly-available performance data for Medicare Part D.

The award was formally presented at PQA's annual meeting and luncheon on May 29, 2013. This is the third year the consensus-based, multi-stakeholder organization provided this unique recognition to top healthcare providers administrating Medicare prescription services across the nation.
