McKesson Corporation announced that its 2013 Pharmacy of the Year grand prize winner is Parkland Health Mart® Pharmacy, located in Desloge, Missouri. Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy was honored in a special awards ceremony during the Opening General Session at the 2013 McKesson ideaShare conference.

Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy, owned by Lisa Umfleet, R.Ph., has been a McKesson customer since 2009. McKesson's Pharmacy of the Year award recognizes independent pharmacies for the exceptional contributions they make to their communities and the leadership they demonstrate in the areas of quality patient care, innovative marketing and technology adoption.

Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy is an exemplary pharmacy, offering patients pharmaceutical-care services, medication therapy management (MTM), medication synchronization, 340B support, Medicare Part D counseling, diabetes counseling, immunizations, long-term care service and delivery service. Recently remodeled and expanded, Parkland now includes an area for private consultation and immunizations. Additionally, the pharmacy has embraced McKesson technology and automation solutions to help build and diversify their patient base, as well as improve the accuracy and speed of their service. Umfleet opened a second Health Mart pharmacy in Fredericktown last winter and has plans to open a third store in Ironton later this year.
By closely collaborating with local prescribers, patients and payers to provide superior service, Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy has established a strong presence in the local community, which is also supported by regular advertising via social media, newspaper, radio, billboards and a shrink-wrapped delivery car. Furthermore, Umfleet serves as an adjunct professor at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and Parkland is a preceptor site, giving pharmacy students the opportunity to experience Health Mart firsthand before they graduate.
