LA BioMed's physician-researchers honored with America's Top Doctors for the year 2014

Forty-two of Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute's (LA BioMed's) physician-researchers will be ranked among America's Top Doctors when it issues its 2014 publication later this year or they are listed among the Southern California Super Doctors for 2014 in the January edition of Los Angeles Magazine.

"Every year, these publications and numerous other organizations recognize our physician-researchers for their outstanding medical care and scholarship," said David I. Meyer, PhD, LA BioMed president and CEO. "The LA BioMed physician-researchers who have received these honors demonstrate the dedication to advancing innovation and improving medical care that are the hallmarks of everything we do at LA BioMed."

To determine America's Top Doctors, Castle Connolly publishing group surveys thousands of physicians and other health care professionals to identify excellent doctors in every specialty. Castle Connolly said it conducts mail and online surveys, and its physician-led research team makes thousands of phone calls each year, talking with leading specialists, chairs of clinical departments and vice presidents of medical affairs to identify the top specialists for most diseases and procedures.

The Southern California Super Doctors report recognizes the top 5% of active doctors in Los Angeles and Orange counties. The selection process relies on independent and peer reviews. Key Professional Media, Inc., an independent firm, sends thousands of ballots to California physicians, asking which doctors they would choose if they needed medical care. A blue-ribbon panel of the top-ranked physicians in each specialty area then evaluates the nominees to determine who are the most respected and talented in their fields. This list is subjected to an independent assessment of the physician's records before the doctors are named Southern California Super Doctors.

Among the LA BioMed physician-researchers named to the two lists are specialists in cardiology, endocrinology, neurology, internal medicine, nephrology, oncology, obstetrics/gynecology, ophthalmology, surgery, pediatrics, psychiatry, pulmonary medicine, immunology and many other specialties.

Following is a list of the physician-researchers who were honored. (A * means the physician ranks among Southern California Super Doctors list published in 2014. A + means the physician will be ranked among America's Top Doctors when the 13th edition is issued later this year.)
