MedScope, the leading developer and marketer of high tech medical alert systems, has announced its new two-way communication mobile Personal Emergency Response System (mPERS), that can be used anywhere, is now available.
Unlike traditional medical alert systems that require land line phone service and a base station, MedScope's mPERS is a self-contained wearable system that includes both a microphone and speaker in a single device. This allows for two-way voice communication between the wearer and emergency care specialists.
In making today's announcement, Raymond Smith, President said, "Today's seniors are more mobile than ever. It remains important to afford them the highest degree of protection outside of their homes. Our mobile PERS now offers that protection in a single 1.5 inch, 1.2 ounce, water resistant device that is worn around the neck or clipped to a belt. It is less than .5 inch thick and only requires a charge every two months. Utilizing new technology, we can now track the user indoors as well as out. No longer does the device need to be 'seen' by a satellite as with conventional GPS systems."
With the use of both cellular triangulation and U-TDOA, or (Uplink-Time Difference of Arrival) technology, a 911-approved wireless location technology that relies on sensitive receivers located at cell towers to determine the location of a mobile phone, MedScope's mPERS is not limited by range and can be used anywhere in the US where there is cellular service. Even more sophisticated than GPS-based devices that require a direct line of sight to satellites in the sky, mPERS can pinpoint the location of a wearer anywhere including inside a home, multi-story building, shopping mall, or basement.
Weighing just about one ounce, and slightly larger than a quarter, the mPERS also features a very long battery life with its rechargeable battery lasting up to 2 months between charges, which is 43 times longer than other emergency alert devices, and will provide an audible notification when it is ready to be recharged.
