PatientPoint® announced today that they have entered into a distribution agreement with HealthTronics IT Solutions to deliver population health management solutions within urology to drive improved adherence and compliance. The product is expected to be released to market in the second quarter of 2014 and will be sold and implemented to the HealthTronics IT Solutions network of independent urologists. The solution will combine patient portal and electronic check-in capabilities to facilitate real-time secure messaging of clinical information and streamline communication between patients and providers—optimizing provider operations and supporting improved outcomes.
The PatientPoint and HealthTronics IT Solutions alliance combines best-in-class urology technology and services with leading edge market presence and experience in patient engagement. With patient engagement solutions offered at each point in the care continuum, PatientPoint will be able to leverage and elevate population-level health management capabilities in the market. "The majority of the population health movement has focused on primary care, but it will be moving into the specialty arena in the very near future," said Raj Toleti, president of Coordinated Care Solutions and CTO for PatientPoint. "The immediate needs of specialty physicians are more tactical in nature such as improving efficiencies in check-in, increasing collections through bill pay and point-of-care collections, and driving Stage 2 meaningful use compliance. Our partnership with HealthTronics delivers on those tactical needs, but also equips specialty practices with the communication and education tools to support increased adherence to medications and care plans. That will ultimately improve quality and patient safety."
The distribution relationship will also enable the companies to improve the delivery of the proper specialized therapeutic offerings as well as the participation of patients in clinical trial programs. HealthTronics IT Solutions is actively engaged in the delivery of data-enabled services and solutions that improve the delivery of urologic care and ultimately improved health outcomes through its relationships with independent urologists, device and pharmaceutical manufacturers. "This distribution arrangement aligns with our long term strategy to drive population health management and patient engagement within the urology space, as well as support better coordination with primary care," said Mike Friguletto, president of HealthTronics IT Solutions.
