NxStage Medical receives American Red Cross Northeast Chapter's Workplace Hero Award

NxStage Medical Inc., a leading manufacturer of home dialysis products, today announced the Company has been awarded the 2014 Workplace Hero Award by the Northeast Chapter of the American Red Cross. Recognized for its commitment to community service over the course of 2013, NxStage distinguished itself from industry peers through continuous efforts to provide support for the disadvantaged and dedication to preparing employees to volunteer in the event of local and national disasters. The American Red Cross Northeast Chapter presented the award to NxStage for the first time at the 12th Annual Community Heroes Breakfast at the Doubletree by Hilton in Danvers, Massachusetts on March 20, 2014.

"While it's known NxStage is an innovator in the medical world, what we're celebrating is the work NxStage and its employees are doing to prepare Lawrence and the communities of Northeast Massachusetts," said Freddi Doeringer, executive director of the American Red Cross of Massachusetts Northeast Chapter. "NxStage and its employees have demonstrated their support of our communities, and they are ready to stand with the Red Cross during the next large-scale or local disaster."

NxStage's exemplary initiatives in 2013 have included over 15 community service events in the Company's local communities. In the last year, NxStage held countless events to support local organizations serving the disadvantaged and low-income communities including Project Home Again, Lazarus House and St. Ann's Home Giving Tree.

"We are honored to receive the American Red Cross Northeast Chapter's Workplace Hero Award," stated Jeffrey Burbank, Chief Executive Officer of NxStage.  "Giving back is in our DNA - it's crucial not only to those with kidney disease, but also to those in need in our own backyard."

In addition to regional service efforts, NxStage provided assistance to national charities such as Habitat for Humanity. The Company also assisted the American Red Cross by hosting local blood drives and implemented initiatives to support the organization's efforts to prepare corporate employees to act as volunteers in the event of disaster.
