Select surgical microscopes from Leica Microsystems are now available with the Med X Change EvolutionHD 2D Medical Video Recorder for 1080p video recording and still image capture.

“With the release of the EVO, Leica Microsystems continues the commitment to providing customers and their patients with the most advanced technology available,” explains Todd Martensen, Vice President Medical Division, Leica Microsystems North America. “This launch is yet another example of how Leica Microsystems’ ‘open architecture’ philosophy allows for seamless integration of the latest technologies into our microscopes.”

Along with full 1080p H.264 (.mp4 or .mov) video capture, the EvolutionHD™ ensures easy editing and secure file transfer. Video and still image files are native formats for Mac® OS X® as well as Microsoft® Windows® 7 and 8 environments, and can be transferred directly, while recording, into the iOS App (MedXStream™) via USB or wireless. Surgeons can record directly to the unit’s 750 GB hard disk, or record to a network location to be easily accessed from their office.

“This is an exciting partnership that we are entering into with Leica Microsystems for the promotion of the EvolutionHD™ Medical Video Recorder. This partnership will further help both organizations to serve surgeons and their staff in the operating room, using our latest advanced visualization products including the new iOS MedXStream iPad/iPhone wireless App,” says Seth Kardos, President of Med X Change, Inc., manufacturer of Medical Video Recorders.
