iGetBetter, Inc., a supplier of post-acute care transition solutions, and Validic, the healthcare industry's premier technology platform for accessing digital health data, announced today that iGetBetter has selected the Validic platform to access data from a broad range of available biometric devices as part of its care transition solution focused on reducing readmissions.
In today's digital health ecosystem, a patient transitioning from hospital to home often uses one or more biometric devices, such as weight scales, blood pressure cuffs, glucometers, activity trackers and many others, often from different manufacturers, and connected to mobile devices running Apple iOS, Google Android and Microsoft Windows. Being able to collect data from multiple devices, regardless of their manufacturing source and to which software platform they are connected, is an important part of providing the best possible care to the patient.
"In a complex care transition process with multiple providers and many devices, it is of great value to have an integration platform like Validic to make providing our solution easier," said Win Burke, CEO of iGetBetter. "Having to develop an API for each of the devices used by providers and patients versus developing only one to Validic, was a simple choice. We will depend on the Validic platform to collect and connect patient data and deliver it real time into the iGetBetter solution, so we can focus on improving care transitions. Our team has started working on the new API and we expect to be able to deliver it as part of our solution in a matter of weeks."
Validic currently supports more than one hundred devices giving providers using the iGetBetter solution a broad choice of biometric data for use by their patients during post-acute care transition. The access to data from multiple devices, including sensors, wearables or in-home medical devices, in real time, promises to provide a better overview of patients' health and ultimately assist patients toward faster recovery and avoiding hospital readmissions.
"We are proud that iGetBetter selected our platform for its integration needs," said Ryan Beckland, co-founder and CEO of Validic. "I am confident that because of the Validic speed and efficient access to actionable digital health data, iGetBetter will be able to further enhance care transitions for patients."
