Vail Valley Medical Center uses Agfa HealthCare’s DX-D Retrofit to convert the Avon Urgent Care's sole X-ray room from CR to DR

Agfa HealthCare announced today that Vail Valley Medical Center (VVMC) utilized the company's DX-D Retrofit to convert the Avon Urgent Care's sole X-ray room from computed radiography (CR) to a fully digital direct radiography (DR) system.  The upgrade to DR has been so successful that VVMC now plans to purchase a second retrofit system for the Beaver Creek Medical Center, an emergency department of Vail Valley Medical Center located slope side of Beaver Creek Mountain.

The DX-D Retrofit is designed to increase efficiency within the radiology department by providing instant image review and eliminating the need for CR or medical screen film cassettes. With the DX-D Retrofit, X-ray images taken within the digital room are immediately available for review and can easily be transferred and stored to the patient's electronic health record (EHR).

Avon Urgent Care is an outpatient department of Vail Valley Medical Center, located just 10 minutes away from the hospital. Offering urgent healthcare provided by the Vail Valley Emergency Physicians Group and Emergency Services department, Avon Urgent Care includes a nine-bed treatment area and is equipped to manage most emergency medical situations.  Staffed by board-certified physicians and critical care trained nurses, the Avon Urgent Care has full onsite X-ray capabilities.

Faster, more efficient X-ray in emergency situations

"After utilizing Agfa HealthCare's DR to successfully upgrade the X-ray technologies at the main campus of Vail Valley Medical Center, we knew the benefits of DR would be especially helpful at our Avon Urgent Care," said Gisele Riden, director of radiology at Vail Valley Medical Center.

Providing our patients with an efficient, fast and comfortable X-ray process is very important. Agfa HealthCare's DX-D Retrofit allows for a quality X-ray to be obtained in a significantly more efficient manner, making our technologist's job easier and reducing wait times for injured patients.

Agfa HealthCare's DX-D Retrofit is a vendor-neutral DR upgrade solution that provides healthcare facilities a cost-effective transition to the benefits of DR and direct digital image capture without replacing their existing X-ray equipment.  Featuring the same clinical benefits as all of Agfa HealthCare's DR portfolio, the DX-D Retrofit features industry-leading image quality through its MUSICA image processing software and efficient workflow thanks to the user-friendly workstation.

"At Agfa HealthCare we're dedicated to providing our customers with technology that fits their individual needs.  The Fast Forward DR Upgrade Program is part of our objective to ensure that every healthcare provider - whatever its size and budget - can benefit from the advantages of digital imaging solutions. When evaluating what DR technology would work best to upgrade Vail Valley Medical Center's Avon Urgent Care the DX-D Retrofit was chosen to maximize the investment of the existing X-ray system," said, Ueli Laupper, DR Business Development, Agfa HealthCare.
