Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, and the International Society of Nephrology (ISN), the global medical society devoted to advancing kidney care worldwide, announced today that Elsevier will publish ISN's flagship journals, Kidney International and Kidney International Supplements, as of January 1, 2016.
Now in its 43rd year of publication, Kidney International is one of the most highly cited journals in nephrology and widely regarded as one of the world's premier journals on the development and consequences of kidney disease. It is led by Editor-in-Chief Detlef Schlondorff, MD, Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York, NY, and supported by a world-class editorial board. The journal publishes peer-reviewed original research in both basic science and clinical medicine covering renal physiology, biochemistry, pathology, immunology, morphology, complications of chronic kidney disease, treatment by dialysis and kidney transplantation, and more. Kidney International Supplements is a peer-reviewed companion journal to Kidney International publishing sponsored, topical content of interest to the nephrology community.
David Harris, ISN's Publications Committee Chair, said, "I am delighted that ISN managed to find a great publisher in Elsevier. Considering the big changes happening in the field of medical publishing, it is very reassuring that Kidney International is such an attractive journal to Elsevier. Even more important for our not-for-profit society is the fact that royalties from Kidney International contribute a large part of our philanthropic activities' budget."
"Elsevier is delighted and honored to be partnering with ISN in the publication of their highly respected journals," commented Elsevier's Anne Kitson, Executive Vice President, Health and Medical Sciences Journals. "We are excited to have the opportunity to work with ISN and the editorial team to ensure continued success of both journals and to explore new avenues for collaboration."
