Elements Behavioral Health introduces the Cassava app, a free recovery app that features a variety of tools to help people keep their recovery on track, including:
- Meeting Finder – Quickly locate mutual support group meetings anywhere in the U.S. using a comprehensive database of over 140,000 meetings. This database includes listings for 12-step meetings across a broad spectrum of addictions and issues, including Alcoholics Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Sexaholics Anonymous, Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous, and Overeaters Anonymous, as well as 12-step alternatives such as SMART Recovery® meetings. Each listing includes meeting information, such as state and time, type of meeting and directions. The app also allows users to rate and provide feedback on meetings.
- Personal Journal – Track various areas – from moods and nutrition to sleep patterns – that affect day-to-day recovery. This information can be crucial in identifying warning signs and areas needing attention as well as identifying areas that are improving.
- Recovery Tips – Get tips for navigating tough situations and preventing relapse.
- Daily Reflections – Browse a collection of hundreds of motivational articles aimed at encouraging mindfulness, reflection, and the development of emotional and spiritual tools for sustained recovery.
"Those in recovery from addiction know how tough it can be to stay on top of the disease — to remain aware of how they're feeling throughout the day and to find support when needed," says David Sack, MD, CEO of Elements Behavioral Health. "We developed the Cassava app so that the millions of people working through these challenges don't have to reach further than their cell phone or tablet to give their recovery a boost."
The Cassava app is the next generation of iPromises, a recovery app launched by Elements Behavioral Health in 2010 that reached over 20,000 downloads and was featured in the December 2010/January 2011 edition of Inc. Magazine's "App Time."
