Educating the community continues to be a major focus of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC), which was incorporated in 1995.
With support from AAWC's corporate partners, the Association provides medical professionals with an Educational Portal on the AAWC website at http://aawconline.org/education-for-the-generalist/. The portal is based on a wound care pathway with links to various CME/CEU educational programs. This education is intended to help new wound care practitioners and non-wound care specialists learn the most current, evidence-based practices in wound care.
AAWC recognizes that no clinician can be specialized in all aspects of medicine. When it comes to caring for people with wounds, clinicians will often be called upon to treat wounds caused by many differing etiologies. This requires specialized wound care education. AAWC is pleased to provide this educational service.
Additionally, 2015 marks an historic milestone in the wound care community as AAWC commemorates its 20th Anniversary. AAWC was incorporated on September 18, 1995. Celebrations took place at the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC) Spring from April 29th to May 3rd in San Antonio, TX.
