ViaSat Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT), an innovator in broadband and communication technologies and services, is proud to announce it was recognized as one of the 2015 San Diego Business Journal 'Healthiest Companies' in the mega company category. This announcement comes as the Company holds its annual Wellness Week, with opportunities designed to educate and engage employees on healthy lifestyle choices.
Health and wellness remain top priorities for ViaSat, and in 2015 the Company rebranded its wellness program to 'eleVate' to capture the program's dynamic spirit and raise awareness for the initiative's four health pillars: nutrition, physical activity, prevention and balance. ViaSat's eleVate strategy focuses on the health and well-being of the Company's more than 3,400 global employees and incorporates family members into the program; providing a solid support structure to encourage families to work together and share resources to achieve healthy goals.
"We are once again honored to be acknowledged by the San Diego Business Journal and our community for our health and wellness initiatives," said Melinda Del Toro, vice president, Human Resources, ViaSat. "Our eleVate wellness program is an important investment in our employees and their loved ones. Each year we seek to improve on the program by incorporating new tools, resources, challenges and events that will support and inspire a healthy lifestyle for years to come."
Unique benefits of the eleVate program include access to an onsite Wellness Center which provides basic health services, preventative care, biometric screenings to track health conditions, massage therapy and chiropractic care. In addition, ViaSat offers access to an online wellness portal that provides motivational challenges focused around general health, fitness and coaching. ViaSat's wellness program also incorporates ergonomic work station assistance, gym memberships, and a variety of incentive and reimbursement programs that bolster long-term health and well-being.
Winners of the San Diego Business Journal's sixth annual 'Healthiest Companies' awards were announced at a reception held last month at the Paradise Point Resort & Spa in San Diego. The award program honored companies across seven categories: small company, medium company, large company, mega company, company based outside of San Diego, wellness service provider and rising star.
