True Results offers FDA approved ORBERA intragastric balloon weight loss procedure in Texas

As most new moms know, post-baby weight can be frustratingly hard to lose. That's why Jennifer, a 24 year old mom from Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas chose to get a little help with an ORBERA™ Intragastric Balloon procedure from True Results. Jennifer is the first patient in Texas to get this new FDA approved weight loss procedure.

"Ever since I had my baby almost a year ago, I just felt so overweight and not myself. To this day, I'm still wearing maternity clothes even though my daughter is almost one," said Jennifer, a 24 year old mom from Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. "A few months ago, when I was out running errands, I ran into an old friend from high school and he asked me if I was pregnant. That was the most embarrassing moment of my life. I just wanted to crawl under a rock and hide there forever. I never want to experience anything like that again."

"I chose True Results because of their reputation," said Jennifer. "I see their commercials all the time. I hear them on the radio. I've known several people that have gone to True Results so it was an easy choice. And the ORBERA™ balloon is a non-surgical procedure, so I'll go home the same day which is definitely great. This tool will help me lose the weight quickly and help me get my confidence back."

"I'm very excited and pleased to be the first physician to place the ORBERA™ balloon in Texas since approval by the FDA," said True Results surgeon Dr. Adam Smith. "We chose to use the ORBERA™ balloon first not only because we were involved in the clinical trials with the device, so we were already familiar with placement. It is the most widely used intragastric balloon in the world, currently, and we are very excited that we are finally now able to offer this to our patients here in the US."

This is the first procedure of its kind in Texas since the FDA approved the ORBERA™ Intragastric Balloon System and the ReShape™ Integrated Dual Balloon System for use with weight loss patients in the US. The procedure was performed on August 26, 2015 at Baylor Surgicare at Richardson.

True Results surgeon Dr. Robert Snow, who also participated in US clinical trials and is certified with ORBERA™, explains, "The ORBERA™ Intragastric Balloon is approved by the FDA for patients who have a BMI between 30-40 and the procedure is performed in an outpatient medical setting under mild sedation. The procedure is completed in 20-30 minutes and the patient goes home the same day. The balloon stays in the stomach for 6 months helping the patient feel satisfied with smaller meals."

"True Results provides a comprehensive team approach," explained Erin Marley, a registered nurse and weight loss expert at True Results. "In addition to having the ORBERA™ balloon, we'll have nutritionists, exercise physiologists, lots of people who are ready and willing and wanting to help you succeed in your weight loss journey."

"True Results and its affiliated physicians are committed to providing innovative weight loss solutions and exceptional care for our patients," said Peter R. Gottlieb, Chairman of True Results. "Over the past twelve years we have helped over 40,000 patients lose weight and get healthier with outpatient LAP-BAND® and gastric sleeve procedures. With the recent FDA approval of the ORBERA™ balloon system, True Results is pleased to offer the very latest in non-surgical weight loss.
