Expert scientific lectures, live training and customer sessions demonstrate PENTAX Medical’s commitment to delivering improved and up-to-date technology to support everyday endoscopy practice
PENTAX Medical highlighted “Quality in Focus: New Technologies Pushing Boundaries” at UEGW 2016, displaying its very latest endoscopic technology designed to support the clinical pathway through enhanced diagnosis and treatment. Outside of the booth, PENTAX Medical provided a number of expert lectures, live training and customer sessions. These included a Blackbox Innovations™ room, i-scan™ certification sessions, introductions to the recently launched ‘my PENTAX Medical’ portal and the annual Expert Dinner held at the Hofburg Vienna.
PENTAX Medical highlighted “Quality in Focus: New Technologies Pushing Boundaries” at UEGW 2016
Key products on display included the new, innovative OPTIVISTA™ EPK-i7010 High-Definition video processor, a world first for endoscopy, featuring both digital (i-scan Surface and Tone Enhancements) and optical enhancements (i-scan OE) on the same platform. PENTAX Medical’s SCOPEPILOT™ also drew attention from visitors to the booth. This true 3D colon navigation system fully supports quality standards in colonoscopy training and offers improved patient comfort in everyday practice.
The focus point of the PENTAX Medical booth was an oversized OPTIVISTA processor and screen showing some of the outstanding clinical images captured with PENTAX Medical’s i-scan and i-scan OE technology, to demonstrate its wide range of applications across endoscopic detection, characterization, diagnosis and therapy. Visitors to the booth could also experience first-hand, the benefits of both OPTIVISTA and SCOPEPILOT via a simulator that demonstrated these technologies’ capabilities in pushing the boundaries in support of quality metrics such as ADR, cecum intubation rates and patient comfort.
The very latest innovations in endoscopy from PENTAX Medical were also demonstrated and discussed in the Blackbox Innovations room. Groups of specially selected clinicians were invited to share the most up-to-date developments, prototypes and ideas from the product and R&D teams from PENTAX Medical. The Blackbox Innovations program builds on the great partnerships between PENTAX Medical and its customers, ensuring a global approach to endoscopic R&D and bringing together all of the elements required to identify, understand and deliver against the clinical unmet needs in the market.
UEGW also saw the launch of the ‘my PENTAX Medical’ exclusive customer portal. This one-stop knowledge base gives convenient 24/7 access to equipment repair requests and tracking, manual downloads, online training and event registration and a host of other features to ease workload and ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Induction sessions were held throughout the congress to familiarize users with the benefits of this new portal.
PENTAX Medical’s annual Expert Dinner proved, as always, to be very popular, with over 200 doctors from around the world attending the charity event held at the prestigious Hofburg Vienna. Guests were treated to three stimulating lectures in a session chaired by Prof. Dr. Ralf Kiesslich (Wiesbaden, Germany). The presentations focussed on advanced imaging technologies in the upper GI tract (Dr. Michael Häfner (Vienna, Austria)), diagnostic and therapeutic challenges in the colo-rectum (Prof. Dr. Helmut Neumann (Mainz, Germany)), and improving quality in endoscopy through innovation (Prof. Matt Rutter (Stockton-on-Tees, UK)). Following the lectures, guests enjoyed a traditional Viennese waltz and took the opportunity to network with colleagues. The event raised €9,460 for the Felix Burda Foundation, which works to raise public awareness for the prevention and early detection of colorectal cancer.
Prof Matt Rutter, Consultant Physician Gastroenterology (Stockton-on-Tees, UK) commented:
It was great to visit the PENTAX Medical booth at UEGW 2016 and see the new technologies first hand. OPTIVISTA offers a host of diagnostic possibilities with its high image quality, benefitting from both i-scan and i-scan OE technology. I also had the opportunity to present at the annual PENTAX Medical Experts’ Dinner, which allowed me to highlight the benefits of using 3D imaging systems such as SCOPEPILOT in everyday practice to optimise intubation and patient comfort.
