Optegra Eye Health Care’s flagship Central London hospital celebrates first anniversary

Optegra Eye Health Care’s flagship Central London hospital, situated in the prestigious Harley Street district, has given the gift of improved vision back to hundreds of people since first opening its doors in January 2016.

Optegra - Ground Floor

The hospital, located on Queen Anne Street, is celebrating its first birthday after a successful opening which has seen the specialist unit attract over 50 Ophthalmic consultants. It has established its expert credentials as one of the few places in the UK to offer the innovative SMILE treatment; a non-invasive keyhole laser surgery that corrects vision in five minutes and reduces the after-effects associated with traditional laser treatments.

With an initial investment of £13 million, Optegra has created a market leading, state-of-the-art hospital. Occupying six floors behind a stunning Edwardian stucco, the hospital offers a full laser suite, two integrated digital theatres, stunning outpatient facilities and the latest in Ophthalmic diagnostic equipment.

Jonny Husband, Hospital Director for Optegra Central London Hospital, commented:

It is fantastic to be celebrating our first anniversary, and to see the hospital become an integral part of the Harley Street district is incredibly rewarding. Our hospital has been designed to be at the forefront of the eye healthcare market, pioneering new procedures and the latest in Ophthalmic medical equipment. We strive to partner with world class surgeons who share our common objective – to provide outstanding care for our patients.

What makes Optegra unique is that we offer a consultant-led service, which means our patients receive expert help from some of the most renowned consultants in their field. We understand that the deterioration of eyesight for many people is unthinkable, so as an organisation we continue to invest in eye health research as well as the latest high-specification equipment to make procedures less invasive and help to speed up the recovery time.

The average eye is just 24 millimeters wide, which makes ophthalmic procedures some of the most complex and intricate surgeries. We are therefore proud to have some of the best customer satisfaction rates in the country.

Manzar Saeed, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Optegra Central London Hospital, was the first consultant to carry out a procedure at the new hospital. A specialist in Vitreoretinal and complex cataract surgery, he comments:

What drew me to Optegra Eye Hospital Central London was its promise of cutting-edge equipment and procedure rooms, complemented with an extraordinary patient focused service that would offer the best treatment options and environment for my patients, and it has certainly delivered. My patients happily travel from as far as East Anglia for treatment at Optegra.

We have enjoyed a successful first year and countless good news stories from patients delighted from the results of their surgeries. I look forward to the many years ahead.

Bill Rogers, a patient who underwent eye surgery at the Queen Anne Street hospital, commented:

Everything about Optegra has been brilliant. The London clinic that I visited was superb, modern and professional. So good to have such excellent after care as well. Thoroughly deserved 5 stars and I'm not easily impressed!

Optegra Eye Hospital London enables consultants to treat the full A to Z of eye health care from vision correction options (laser eye surgery and lens replacement) through to medical treatments for conditions such as cataracts, AMD, floaters, corneal complications, retinal tears, glaucoma, and is currently developing stem cell transplant surgery.
