Officially opened on Thursday 1st February, Lakeside marked the first of 209 Tesco Opticians stores that are being transformed into Vision Express following the acquisition by the multiple’s parent company, GrandVision.
Tesco Opticians employees have been made part of the Vision Express team and existing customers will continue to receive seamless eye health services.
The opening coincided with Vision Express’s £1.5m injected into Vision Express Technical Centre to meet an expected increase in demand for frames given its expansion to almost 600 stores across the UK and Ireland.
The Technical Centre is the national home of Vision Express’ laboratory. It currently turns out more than one million pairs of glasses a year but following the £1.5 million investment, production capacity is expected to double during 2018.
The acquisition and investment showcase the brand’s commitment to eye health in the UK. Earlier this year, Lawson expressed his support for a National Eye Health Strategy.
