Rheumatoid Arthritis: A systematic approach (edited by Dr. Syuichi Koarada) comprehensively covers each aspect of the pathology, diagnosis and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
The text combines comprehensive and systematic information about the diseases with a collection of diagnostic images. The key feature of the book is the systemic approach towards medical diagnosis in cases based on radiographic imaging. The methodology is called the ABCDEGFGH approach (A; alignment, B; bone, C; capsula articularis, D; distribution, E; external bone, F; further examination, G; goal, and H; healing). Topics covered in the book include also include osteoarthritis, lupus, myositis, vasculitis, juvenile arthritis, gout, systemic sclerosis, adult-onset Still's disease, Behçet's disease and so on. Chapters have been contributed by experts in rheumatology.
"In the beginning, our desire was to only list everything about rheumatoid arthritis and explain it briefly, which seemed incomplete," says Koarada. "However, in the process of accumulating every image, I feel that we approached the point where we can say it is complete and readers will find a good collection of images," he adds. "This work is the fruit of long years' labor of nearly 2 decades. Our aim is to help readers see and understand arthritis."
The book is essential reading for medical staff and students in studying or training in rheumatology, orthopedics and medical imaging. Patients and families who are familiar with rheumatoid may also benefit from the simple presentation of the book.
