New wide mouth bottle with four-port cap is capable of performing a multitude of laboratory applications
DWK Life Sciences, the world’s leading manufacturer and supplier of precision labware, introduces the KIMBLE® GLS 80® Media Bottle and Multiport Cap System. Designed to help scientists accommodate a range of sample sizes from 250 mL to 20 L, the KIMBLE® GLS 80® bottle and cap system can be used for biological and chemical reactions, plant cell culture, photobiological studies, and sample collection and storage. The wide neck simplifies transfer of samples in any form, including powders, pastes, granules and liquids. Spoons, spatulas, tweezers, and large funnels are easily manipulated through the opening. Together with the Multiport Cap, the GLS 80® bottle handles applications in the energy, materials science, pharmaceutical and biotechnology fields of research.
“We’ve supplied our GLS 80® Bottle and Multiport Cap System to research laboratories testing everything from algae to food,” says Rick Schwartz, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at DWK Life Sciences. “Of the 30,000 products we sell, this bottle and cap system is one of the most versatile,” he added.
The KIMBLE® GLS 80® bottle is manufactured from 33 expansion low extractable borosilicate glass in conformance to the USP Type I standard for neutral glass. Resistant to acids, corrosive chemicals and thermal shock, the bottles withstand temperatures as high as 500˚C making them suitable for autoclaving or dry sterilization techniques. The GLS 80® bottle is available in 3 versions: a clear version with greater than 90% light transmission from 380 to 700 nm, a version with an amber coated exterior for light sensitive materials, and a version with a KimCote® safety coating for assurance of protection in the event of damage. Bottles are fitted with a matching pouring ring for drip-free pouring, and employ a special thread design allowing an ergonomic ¾ turn for rapid opening and closing. Large, easy-to-read volume graduations and a white marking patch allow for clear identification of bottle contents.
When combined with the new Multiport Cap, the GLS 80® Wide Mouth Bottle helps scientists perform dilutions, fermentation, culturing and other applications requiring fluid transfer. The four-port modular system provides a choice of 5 port inserts designed to fit different size tubing. For versatility, pressure compensation is achieved with a membrane filter attached to a liquid-tight screw cap, while blank caps are used to seal unused ports. Constructed of polypropylene (PP) and polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE), cap components are autoclavable.
KIMBLE® GLS 80® Media Bottles in clear glass or with amber coating are available in eight sizes, for quantities of 250 mL, 500 mL, 1000 mL, 2000 mL, 5000 mL, 10,000 mL and 20,000 mL. Bottles with KimCote® protection are available on the 250 mL, 500 mL, 1000 mL, 2000 mL, and 5000 mL bottles. The 250 mL, 500 mL, 1000 mL, and 2000 mL bottles are shipped in Lab Pack cases of four, and the 5000 mL, 10,000 mL and 20,000 mL bottles are shipped individually in case quantities of one. Multi-port Cap Systems are available in case quantities of two.
