TESCAN enables nanoscale investigation and analysis within the geosciences, materials science, life sciences and semiconductor industries. The company has a 30-year history of developing innovative electron and focused ion beam microscopy, micro-computed tomography, and related software solutions for customers in research and industry worldwide. The TESCAN brand has been established thanks to the company’s participation in top research projects and cooperation with the leading companies in the field of electron microscopy and microanalysis. As a result, TESCAN has earned a leading position in micro- and nanotechnology.
TESCAN Group was established in 2013 as a result of long-term expansion and establishment of subsidiaries worldwide, including France-based ORSAY PHYSICS, a world leader in customized focused ion and electron beam technology. TESCAN Group maintains its headquarters, production, and R&D in Brno, Czech Republic. TESCAN Group, is the North American subsidiary of TESCAN Group and is based in Warrendale, PA., USA. Every TESCAN microscope is expertly produced in Brno and shipped to customers worldwide.
The company is focused on research, development, and the manufacturing of equipment in the following areas:
- SEM Solutions
- FIB-SEM Solutions
- 4D-STEM Solution
- Micro-CT Solutions
- Product add-ons
Wide Range of Applications
The relentless pursuit of scientific understanding continues to inspire TESCAN to develop imaging, analysis and modification technologies that keep pace with the increasing needs of its clients. As researchers and scientists continue to push the boundaries, they turn to the instruments that TESCAN designs and manufactures to image the structures, often at the nanometer-scale that yield the secrets of structure/property relationships of materials, why cells behave the way they do, and how the earth was formed.
TESCAN has developed state-of-the-art SEMs, FIB-SEMs, and micro-CTs that allow scientists to image samples at high resolution, with high contrast and in some instances dynamically. Furthermore, these systems have been designed with versatility in mind, allowing the user to customize a system by adding additional detectors/microanalytical capabilities and other accessories to cater to the most complex experiments, culminating in the most comprehensive analyses.
While the range of applications TESCAN instruments are suited for continues to grow with the evolution of science. Whether an off-the-shelf system or a custom-designed instrument, TESCAN welcomes the opportunity to work with scientists in both industry and academia to design a system to meet specific requirements.
TESCAN continuously develops advanced products creating a competitive advantage for its customers. Some of the company’s latest and most innovative products include:
- TESCAN TENSOR: An integrated, precession assisted analytical 4D STEM.
- TESCAN UniTOM HR: The first microCT system to provide sub-micron spatial resolution and high temporal resolution dynamic CT in a single, highly versatile system.
TESCAN TENSOR
In 2022, TESCAN launched the revolutionary TENSOR 4D Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope (4D-STEM) to the global marketplace. TENSOR is the world’s first Integrated, precession-assisted, analytical 4D-STEM. The TENSOR is built from the ground up for a totally new level of performance and user experience. It is designed to address the needs of anyone with an interest in multimodal nano-characterization applications (morphological, chemical, and structural), including materials scientists, semiconductor R&D and failure analysis (FA) engineers, and crystallographers.
TESCAN UniTOM HR
TESCAN’s leading-edge micro-CT systems facilitate image acquisition, 3D reconstruction, 3D visualization, and quantification. High-speed imaging also enables dynamic or 4D CT that can reveal structural changes over time as a function of changing variables e.g., load. TESCAN has solutions to cater to many different technical requirements and budget.
In 2021, TESCAN unveiled the new UniTOM HR―the first dynamic micro-CT system to offer sub-micron resolution 3D non-destructive imaging for static studies and high temporal resolution for uninterrupted 4D dynamic CT experiments. UniTOM HR is ideal for both industrial and academic researchers that need micro-CT imaging to visualize a sample’s internal structure and also want to gain a deeper understanding of a sample’s behavior under certain environmental conditions.
TESCAN SEMs and FIB-SEMs
In 2019, TESCAN launched a new Generation IV series of SEMs and FIB-SEMs to the global marketplace. These state-of-the-art systems provide the most advanced capabilities and quality performance for sample preparation. TESCAN’s comprehensive SEM product suite includes:
- TESCAN VEGA Compact: Compact analytical SEM for routine materials characterization, research and quality control applications at the micron scale
