Ortho Kinematics‚ a private company focused on revolutionizing spine motion analysis, announced receiving 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the KineGraph VMA (Vertebral Motion Analyzer) system. The KineGraph VMA system is designed to improve a test routinely prescribed by spine surgeons—the flexion/extension x-ray.

Multiple CT scans can increase risk of cancer

From the doctor's office to the airport, Americans have more opportunity for radiation exposure than ever before. While low levels of radiation are used in medical imaging and airport body scanners, there is much debate about exposure levels and potential cancer risks. New research from Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center has found that there could be an increased risk of cancer for certain individuals who are exposed to multiple CT scans.

Two-drug combination may alleviate radiation sickness in people

A combination of two drugs may alleviate radiation sickness in people who have been exposed to high levels of radiation, even when the therapy is given a day after the exposure occurred, according to a study led by scientists from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Children's Hospital Boston.
