NVHR supports IOM report on inadequate federal funding for chronic viral hepatitis

With today's release of a landmark study by the Institute of Medicine (IOM), Hepatitis and Liver Cancer: A National Strategy for Prevention and Control of Hepatitis B and C, finding that inadequate public-health resources are being allocated to national and local prevention, control, and surveillance programs, the National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable (NVHR) today renewed its call for the Administration, Congress, and the entire health care system to take immediate and decisive action to implement the report's key recommendations.

State Radio in China to launch HIV/AIDS educational program

China National Radio (CNR) on Jan. 16 is set to air a weekly one-hour program aimed at increasing HIV/AIDS awareness, Xinhua reports. People living with HIV will help co-host the program - "Positive Talks" - which will feature communication between hosts and the audience as well as experts on HIV/AIDS prevention and more, Yang Wenyan, deputy editor-in-chief of CNR, said Saturday.

The Associated Press reports that Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has said that the anti-gay bill to be considered late next month or early March by the country's parliament "is too harsh and [he] has encouraged his ruling National Resistance Movement Party to overturn the death sentence provision.
