Commonly used drug restores blood flow to oxygen-starved muscles of boys with muscular dystrophy

Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute researchers have found that a commonly prescribed drug restores blood flow to oxygen-starved muscles of boys with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a genetic muscle-wasting disease that rarely is seen in girls but affects one in 3,500 male babies, profoundly shortening life expectancy. It is the most common fatal disease that affects children.

AstraZeneca today announced the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved EPANOVA (omega-3-carboxylic acids) as an adjunct to diet to reduce triglyceride levels in adults with severe hypertriglyceridemia (triglyceride levels greater than or equal to 500 mg/dL).

Zoetis Inc. today reported its financial results for the first quarter of 2014. The company reported revenue of $1.1 billion for the first quarter of 2014, an increase of 1% from the first quarter of 2013. Revenue reflected an operational increase of 4%, with foreign currency having a negative impact of 3 percentage points.
