With the NanoDrop Eight Spectrophotometer, one can measure eight samples simultaneously in less than 20 seconds. The built-in Thermo Scientific™ Acclaro™ Sample Intelligence technology enables the identification of contaminants in the sample and informs the original sample concentration. Optional software enables users to easily comply with 21 CFR Part 11 regulations.

The NanoDrop Eight Spectrophotometer measures the actual concentration of protein or nucleic acid without the interference or the effects of sample contaminants. Knowledge of the sample composition helps downstream experiments to proceed right the first time.
- Identifying contaminants — The spectrophotometer identifies ordinary contaminants found in protein and nucleic acid samples that can hinder downstream reactions or falsely elevate calculated concentrations
- Corrected calculations — The device applies chemometric algorithms to ascertain the actual concentration of the analyte minus the contaminant
- Differentiating DNA from RNA — The algorithms can pinpoint mammalian RNA contaminating a dsDNA sample or mammalian dsDNA contaminating an RNA sample
NanoDrop Eight Spectrophotometer enhancements
The NanoDrop Eight instrument provides many advantages beyond its predecessor, the NanoDrop 8000 Spectrophotometer:
- Broader dynamic range — To measure higher concentration samples without dilution — up to 145 mg/mL IgG or 10,000 ng/μL dsDNA.
- Ergonomic ambidextrous pipetting — The pedestal array is aligned perpendicular to the front of the instrument to provide a natural pipetting motion for users. The pipette guide is magnetic and adjustable from side to side, enabling right- and left-handed users to swiftly, comfortably dispense samples.
- Auto-Measure and Auto-Blank functions — These functions enable streamlining of multi-sample processing with immediate measurements that take place when the pedestal arm is down. With a single tap of the screen, these functions can be turned ON or OFF.
- Automated exports for LIMS — It sets a directory for data to be exported automatically. The LIMS software sweeps the folder to pull in NanoDrop Eight instrument data for archiving.
