Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute awarded grant to develop new system to predict sudden cardiac arrest

The Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute has been awarded a $1.66 million, four-year grant from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health to develop a measurement system that could help doctors predict which patients could be struck by sudden cardiac arrest, a heart rhythm disturbance that causes instant death in more than 95 percent of cases.

Aastrom to pursue Phase 3 CLI clinical program through FDA SPA process

Aastrom Biosciences, Inc., the leading developer of autologous cellular therapies for the treatment of severe cardiovascular diseases, today announced that the company will pursue a Phase 3 clinical program for its autologous cell therapy for the treatment of critical limb ischemia (CLI) through the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's special protocol assessment (SPA) process. Debiopharm's achievement of Phase I milestone in Debio 0932 trial triggers $3M milestone payment to Curis

Curis, Inc. announced today that its licensee Debiopharm S.A. has treated the fifth patient in its ongoing Phase I clinical trial for small molecule heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) inhibitor Debio 0932, formerly called CUDC-305. Under the terms of the August 2009 license agreement between Curis and Debiopharm, Curis will receive a $3 million milestone payment from Debiopharm for the achievement of this development objective.

FDA grants Fougera first generic approval for Adapalene Cream 0.1%

E. Fougera & Co., a leading specialty pharmaceutical manufacturer, announced it has received first generic approval from the FDA for Adapalene Cream 0.1% (Rx). Fougera's Adapalene Cream 0.1% is rated AB, generically equivalent to Differin® by Galderma Pharmaceuticals. According to industry data, U.S. sales of the brand named product in 2009 exceeded $55 million. This approval also marks the fourth product approval that the FDA has granted to Fougera this year.
