First patient treated in multicentre Phase I clinical trial of SCIB1 DNA ImmunoBody vaccine for melanoma

Scancell Holdings Plc,, the developer of therapeutic cancer vaccines, today announces the enrolment and treatment of the first patient in its multicentre Phase I clinical trial of SCIB1, its DNA ImmunoBody® vaccine being developed for the treatment of melanoma. The trial will evaluate the safety and tolerability of SCIB1 in patients with late stage melanoma.

While ECV represented almost half of all cardioversion attempts in Germany, in Spain ECV accounted for only 13% of cardioversion attempts.

AMA voted to adopt new public health policies

New policy adopted today will pair the AMA with the appropriate federal agencies to convene an expert panel to address the immediate and long-term human and environmental health impacts of the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The AMA will also work to educate physicians, other health professionals and the public about the public health risks associated with exposure to crude oil and byproducts.

A new study suggests that computed tomography (CT) angiography might be unnecessary in many patients suspected of having pulmonary embolism (PE), based on the results of risk assessment analysis. PE risk assessment could help reduce radiation exposure and costs associated with CT angiography. The results of the study appear in the online edition and August print issue of the journal Radiology.

Without knowing exactly why, scientists have long observed that people who regularly take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin have lower incidences of certain types of cancer.
