XOMA expands anti-inflammatory antibody intellectual property portfolio

Encouraging results from CCT's Phase I study of PDA-001 for treatment-resistant Crohn's Disease

Celgene Cellular Therapeutics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Celgene Corporation, today announced initial results from a Phase I multicenter safety study of PDA-001 in treatment-resistant Crohn's Disease. PDA-001 is an immunomodulatory therapy consisting of human placenta-derived cells obtained from CCT's proprietary processes.

Variant of ATG16L1 gene associated with higher risk for Crohn's disease

The ATG16L1 gene is located on chromosome 2 and encodes a protein involved in the formation of autophagosomes during autophagy. Autophagy is a cytoplasmic process that keeps a cell stable. Hampe et al first identified ATG16L1 as a Crohn's disease (CD) susceptibility gene in 2007, and many other studies have arisen since then. However, the definite relationship of variants of ATG16L1 with IBD remains unclear.

Eisai Europe Ltd. today announced that it has submitted a marketing authorization application to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) for approval of eribulin mesylate, also known as 'E7389', for the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer in Europe.
