Study shows human blood contains 1000’s of autoantibodies to clear cellular debris caused by injury, disease

In a study that suggests a new frontier in immunology, scientists at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Osteopathic Medicine (UMDNJ-SOM) report on evidence that shows human blood contains thousands of autoantibodies that bind specifically to antigens from organs and tissues all over the body and act to clear cellular debris that results from injury and disease.

Research shows UNC1062 blocks Mer survival signaling in melanoma cells

Collaborative research presented by the University of Colorado Cancer Center, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Harvard Medical School and the University of Pittsburgh, at the American Association for Cancer Research Annual Conference, shows that the protein receptor Mer is overexpressed in melanoma and that the investigational drug UNC1062 blocks Mer survival signaling in these cells, killing them.

Bayer HealthCare and German Cancer Research Center to extend strategic alliance in search of novel cancer therapeutics

Bayer HealthCare (Bayer) and the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) will extend their successful strategic research alliance in search of novel cancer therapeutics by focusing their activities also on the field of immunotherapy. Immunotherapies are a promising approach to treat cancer with the aim to selectively reactivate the body's own immune system so that it attacks tumor cells.

UT professor earns INNOVATOR Award for Cancer Prevention Research at AACR meeting 2013

A proposal to examine the cellular journey from normal skin, to precancerous lesion to skin cancer earned Kenneth Tsai, M.D., Ph.D., the Sixth Annual Landon Foundation-AACR INNOVATOR Award for Cancer Prevention Research at the AACR Annual Meeting 2013 in Washington, D.C., April 6-10.

Medicago, IDRI to present Phase I clinical results of H5N1 vaccine at World Vaccine Congress
