Clostridium difficile infection in primary care

The epidemiology of Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) is changing rapidly and has been marked by a significant increase in incidence and severity.

Management of CDI can be challenging and guidelines for treatment and prevention are being updated. In order to effectively implement key strategies for reducing the incidence and severity of this virulent pathogen, it is crucial for primary care physicians to have current education on CDI.

To address the need for education on CDI, Robert Michael Educational Institute LLC (RMEI) and Postgraduate Institute for Medicine (PIM) are jointly sponsoring a complimentary continuing education virtual lecture titled Clostridium difficile Infection in Primary Care: Tackling a Virulent Pathogen. The content for this virtual lecture was developed from a live satellite symposium held during Pri-Med East 2008. This activity is supported by an educational grant from ViroPharma Incorporated and is accredited for physicians.

Faculty for this continuing education virtual lecture include Frank Friedenberg, MD, MS (Epi), Associate Professor of Medicine in the Department of Gastroenterology at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Stuart Johnson, MD, DTM&H, Associate Professor of Medicine at Loyola University Medical Center, Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois, and Staff Physician at Hines VA Hospital in Hines, Illinois; and Linda M. Mundy, MD, Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Health at Saint Louis University School of Public Health in St. Louis, Missouri, and Healthcare Consultant with LM Mundy, LLC, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
